Muña Essential Oil: Andean Mint of the Incas
Muña, or Andean mint, is also known as the mint of the Incas. Native to the Peruvian highlands, this plant is widely cultivated throughout the Andean region. The Incas traditionally used muña for its believed beneficial properties.
Botanical Name: Minthostachys mollis
Origin: Peruvian Highlands
Common Uses:
- Muña’s deep, minty aroma may promote a sense of calm and clarity.
- When consumed in teas, seasonings, or infusions, muña is often used to soothe and refresh.
- Muña is disliked by insects and vermin, making it a potential natural remedy for repelling ants.

Distillation:

The oil is extracted by passing a vapor stream through the dry wood, opening its oil glands, and allowing the essential oil to mix with the steam. It is then passed through a cooling system to condense the plant’s natural essence.
