There’s a reason we associate candles and incense with relaxation. It’s because a great candle, incense or essential oil’s natural aroma has the power to transport you to an alternate universe.

Palo Santo is no exception. Possessing a unique woody scent with hints of pine, lemon and mint, it will immediately send your nose straight to the Amazon rainforest! Beyond its fragrant aroma, its healing medicinal and spiritual traits have been known and used for thousands of years. Palo Santo may help with inflammatory reactions such as headaches and stomach-aches, as well as reduce stress levels - but it’s perhaps best known for releasing purifying properties when burned. In South American culture and history, Palo Santo is even said to remove negativity and obstacles and attract good fortune.

At Luna, we have close personal ties with this sacred wood. Luna’s co-founder, Sandra Manay, has fond memories of playing in Peru and using Palo Santo to smudge and act as a mosquito repellant. Now that this magical wood is used worldwide, Luna is thrilled to carry different varieties of Palo Santo products. Along with our new Palo Santo resin, we now offer Palo Santo incense powder - which is known to create a long-lasting, consistent burn, all while offering the samme uplifting aromatic scent as traditional incense. Incense powder may be used in small amounts as an ingredient in incense mixtures. It meshes well with substances such as copal resins, sandalwood, vanilla, basalms and benzoin.

Palo Santo is now a protected resource, as its precious oil and wood was harvested through deforestation for many years. Luna is proud to responsibly obtain our Palo Santo products from naturally fallen trees, in a way that promotes the sustainability and reforestation of this sacred wood, ultimately allowing for its continued growth.
