As we go about our daily lives, we unwittingly absorb energy (both negative and positive) and radiate it outwards. While it can occasionally be beneficial to reflect on our internal energies, it’s also important to let go of fears and self-criticism. 

A full moon event is an optimal opportunity to release unwanted energy and begin anew. Let’s take a look at how we can harness a full moon event to practice a spiritual cleanse.

A full moon cleansing done with fire and smoke affects our mental nature. When we light incense or smudge sticks, we activate our brains and unite our thoughts with the elemental force of the air. Keeping that in mind, here’s what you’ll need:

Begin by burning a stick of Palo Santo in a room where you feel comfortable and at peace. Ensure the room is well ventilated to help disperse the smoke of your incense. Chant the mantra of your choice for about 20 minutes to help clear your mind. 

Next, focus on any energy you’d like to release. Be honest with yourself about whatever is negatively affecting your being, then tell that energy to disperse. Some people even like to write down these negative thoughts and burn them as a symbolic form of release.

It can be good for the soul to reflect on your thoughts and examine your mind. A regular full moon cleansing might be just what you need to practice self-awareness and re-energize your spirit.
